Born to Korean parents who moved to New York City for a PhD in computer science, Sandra learned how to walk by face planting on the steps of the Columbia University campus. She grew up playing Ultimate Frisbee and painting Banksy-style murals on her high school walls. The principal was not pleased.

Sandra graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design with a BFA in Computer Animation. At ReelFX Studios in Montreal, she worked as a sets and environment artist on Paramount’s animated monster wrestling film, Rumble, designing pine forests and set dressing monster-sized training gyms. The time in Canada expanded her definition of “cold.”

Pivoting her career, Sandra became a webcomic writer for Tapas Media and Pocket Toons. She adapted a K-Pop idol romance and a martial arts fantasy, getting to revisit her childhood obsessions for research purposes.

She placed semi-finalist in the 2026 Big Apple Festival Women’s Spotlight Edition and qualified for the Cinestory Foundation Residency. She is also an alumnus of the 2026 Stowe Story Labs Writer’s Room and Narrative Labs. There, she honed her affinity for comedies about characters who would rather upend their lives than talk about their feelings.

After battling Floridian mosquitos, sleeping with bedbugs in Colorado, and wrangling a goat in a New Jersey field of poison ivy, Sandra’s become an expert on itch creams. When not chasing chickens on her parents’ small farm in Central Jersey, she can be found pushing a pet stroller full of rabbits on the NJ Transit to Penn Station.
